The Annual Remembering Riley High Tea

2016 ANNUAL HIGH TEA

Our inaugural high tea was a great success. Kelly set her sights inJune to create this event. She was hoping to get 90 people to attend. The afternoon was filled with fun, laughter, tears and winning, lot's of prize winning. The glorious Kim Skubris was our MC and Trish Wilson - bereavement councillor and midwife, was our insightful speaker. There were 162 guests who attended. Remembering Riley raised over $10 000 for the Mater Foundation and Seeds of Change. We'd like to thank our tremendous organising committee of 2016 and our sponsors and supporters.

2017 ANNUAL HIGH TEA

In 2017, Kelly and the team set their sights on a bigger goal of 250 guests and raising more money. We achieved our targets and had 252 people attend and raised over $14 000. We had a couple of successful additions to the program. Our butterfly release in honour of a baby gone too soon. The other was a Question answer time with our panel. The audience asked questions that improved awareness and opened the dialogue up. We were joined by local Councillor Matt Constance from Moreton Bay Region who was thoroughly impressed by the event. Professor Vicki Flenady impressed the audience with her knowledge and gave the medical expertise and statistics around where we are at with research around unexplained Stillbirth. Kris Wason brought his band 'Flipside Circus' which added to vibe of the afternoon. Kim Skubris once again weaved her magic and Kelly inspired people to become advocates in their communities to open the conversation up about Stillbirth. A wonderful afternoon that left everyone feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

2018 ANNUAL HIGH TEA

In 2018, we once again set our sights higher to raise $20 000. The event was bigger and better again. We had 292 guests which means we continue to grow.  Our events always receive feedback about the 'feel' that sits behind them. The 2018 event did not disappoint. It had such an emotional connection for people and the day was filled will heartfelt stories. Our panel included two fathers which brought a different understanding to the conversation. And we are extremely proud to say that we had over twenty men that attended the event this year. We raised $18 805 which we are so thankful to our Remembering Riley community for supporting us to achieve such a figure. What stood out this event compared to the previous two was that there was a very strong message  and feeling of advocacy for Stillbirth research in the room. Kelly spoke of going out into your communities and having the conversations, changing your use of language and being brave to actually continue or initiate conversations around stillbirth and pregnancy loss.
