BRIDGE TO BRISBANE

We had this idea of building awareness and raising money late in 2012, not long after losing Riley. Lee loved running and Kelly was always trying to be fit and healthy so it was a natural progressions (particularly for Lee) to choose running. The Bridge to Brisbane was a great avenue to get our Running for Riley part of Remembering Riley up and running and into the community.

Bridge to Brisbane 2013-2017

2013

2013 marked the first year that we ‘Ran For Riley’. The team consisted of a 5km and a 10km team. In total we had 55 runners.  This was a big ask considering it was on Father’s Day. We had participants ranging from grandmothers all the way down to babies. We raised over $10 000. The majority of the money went to SANDS Queensland. We were also able to donate to The Stillbirth Foundation and Heartfelt.Thank you to the running For Riley team and all the people that donated. You helped us to achieve our goal, which was to raise awareness, raise money for support and help us in our quest to make Stillbirth less taboo! Thanks for making a difference.

2014

In 2014 we raised just over $7474.45  for the Mater Foundation. We had team members participate in the 5km and 10km events. Many runners beat their PB times.  This year we started a new tradition for the team photo- we represented 'Babies Gone Too Soon' on cards and held them. A great day was had by all.

2015

In 2015 we raised just over $8331.77 for the Mater Foundation. This year we had some new participants and some of our regulars. A Combination of 5km runners and 10km who were raising awareness for Stillbirth. We had some cracker fundraising goals which were smashed.

2016

In 2016 we raised just over $3336.97 for the Mater Foundation.  This was the first time the course had been changed to go over three different city bridges. What a beautiful way to spend a Sunday morning.

2017

In 2017 we raised just over $3661.76 for the Mater Foundation. We had participants once agin in the 5km and the 10km. We had loads of fun participating. We had received feedback that the entry fee for the B2B was a bit much and people would prefer to donate that money directly to us. So this is how the Family Forest Run was born.
